Job Purpose:

  • As the central point of contact for external customers, the R&D Head will interface with key decision-makers, actively engaging in understanding their requirements and business needs. Internally, He/She will work closely with stakeholders to identify value-driven propositions and spearhead application-focused innovations. The role involves leading the complete New Product Development cycle, including running trials to evaluate the quality and market viability of products. Additionally, the executive will drive new projects, monitor market trends to refine existing offerings, and cultivate strong client relationships to support long-term business growth. This position requires a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.As a Functional leader, He/She would be responsible for driving cultural transformation to enforce value-based training and valued propositions & leverage skills of the existing team across domains and closely engage with cross-functional and cross-level teams to drive varied projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • End-to-end responsible for developing products and driving innovation across all domains according to business and client roadmap
  • Maximize product profitability and improve product performance through continuous research and technology advancements & upgradation
  • Assure competitiveness and innovation of products & processes from a technological and design standpoint
  • Act as an interface between the client and manufacturing team on the shopfloor to ensure smooth collaboration on the delivery of the ideal product, which includes participating in production engineering of the Products
  • Apply all relevant international regulations/norms/standard
  • Encourage creativity in R&D teams and driving cultural transformation to enforce value-based training and valued propositions
  • Leverage skills of the existing team across domains and closely engage with cross-functional team across hierarchy to drive varied projects
  • Custodian of all relevant international regulatory approvals/norms/standards especially REACH, EPA, EPD.
  • Interface with acclaimed Research Laboratories for collaborative R&D projects
  • Establish and maintain operational budgets for his team personnel and equipment.
  • Support R&D projects at group level; Encourage participation and instill in the culture  for
  • Knowledge sharing and implementing “best practices”

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Polymer Science
  • Age: Up to 53 Years
  • Experience: 20 Years+ of experience in Polymers / Specialty Chemicals/ including 3-7 years in a leadership role in chemical synthesis
  • Experience in R&D in Polyacrylic polymers, Polyacrylamide & Quaternary ammonium polymers would be an added advantage.
  • Extensive experience in molecule/application development
  • Experience in scaling products from the lab to commercial production
  • Should be hands-on with scientific studies across all domains for New Product Development
  • Global exposure, including engagement with international customers and markets
  • Proven ability in establishing and nurturing Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in areas such as synthesis, computational modeling and IP Capabilities
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to manage both technical and commercial teams
  • Should have strong market-orientation in defining new projects to be launched in association with the design, marketing and product management teams
