Job Purpose
- To facilitate a culture of innovation in providing complete oversight of Technology Transfer, New Product Development & scale-up.
Responsibilities:
- Developing new technologies for both Agchem actives & key intermediates as part of NPD.
- Provide technical proposals (chemistry selection, estimation of cost and timelines) & project plans for custom synthesis & contract research to various overseas clients & MNCs.
- Lead New Product Development Projects, conduct periodic technical reviews to monitor progress and mentor the team with robust operational & technical inputs, along with addressing cross-functional issues.
- Oversee R&D process and Pilot Plant work with respect to agrochemical / intermediate molecules developed for existing customers & CMS business; review and provide guidance for planning Pilot Trials/ Demo batches / Scale up.
- Conduct reviews with key stakeholders to streamline & boost operational efficacy with economically viable processes.
- Quality & Safety Risk Assessment requirement when working with the said actives/intermediates.
- Custom Synthesis & Contract Manufacturing Services & experience in delivering products in a time-bound & cost-effective manner in small scale (mg to gm scale) and large scale (tons scale).
- Lead the operations of chemistry-labs, monitoring mechanisms for safety, procurement, compliance, audit-readiness and performance management.
- Active support to efficacy, registration & market development.
Qualification & Experience:
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry with 20 years+ experience in an Agrochemical / Pharma API sector with relevant experience in R&D in Contract Manufacturing Services / Custom Synthesis
- Proven competence to function as a lead scientist generating and evaluating new target/project opportunities and developing R & D strategies
- Sound exposure to Custom Synthesis and understanding of manufacturing capabilities to closely interface with the plant team & client’s team / and global innovators to develop new molecules & intermediates for the CMS business
- Expertise in managing project activities to ensure timely accomplishments of R&D goals / objectives
- Experience in process research and proposing novel synthetic schemes and impurity profiling
- Experience in handing complex organic synthesis, process innovation and troubleshooting
- Well versed with Intellectual Property Management including patent analysis, patent drafting, filing and further support
- Proficient at effective project management covering project evaluation, preparation of high-quality science proposals, work plans, mitigation plans, SOPs, reports, presentations, and data-interpretation.
- Well experienced in building multi-skilled, innovative, and motivated workforce and aligning them to achieve project goals.
- Adept in handling a large team of chemists, technical heads and inspiring them to give their best
- Brainstorming with the team and providing inputs / directions for the best solution in the fastest time and lowest costs.
