Head – Engineering (General Manager)

Job Purpose

  • The incumbent would oversee the Engineering department, with added responsibility of leading the Proposal and Estimation function, while managing a team of over 40 members. The executive would lead engineering projects focused on static equipment, including pressure vessels, reactors, heat exchangers, and columns, ensuring compliance with international standards such as ASME, API and TEMA. This role involves providing technical guidance to team members, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables, and driving continuous improvements in engineering processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Engineering Projects: Oversee technical and engineering compliance of static equipment, including pressure vessels, reactors, heat exchangers, separators, and columns, during all phases of the project.
  • Project Management: Plan, forecast, execute, monitor, and manage technical activities to ensure project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Manage all phases of the project including engineering, design, and resource allocation to deliver on budget and on schedule.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide strong leadership to review mechanical designs, perform technical studies, and prepare detailed reports. Guide engineering teams in performing calculations to ensure compliance with client and customer specifications.
  • Collaboration: Serve as the primary technical interface with 3rd-party manufacturers, integrators, and fabricators. Collaborate with vendors to ensure new developments meet all applicable codes and standards.
  • Compliance and Quality: Review all technical deliverables to ensure compliance with the Technical Scope of Work (SOW), applicable codes, standards, and performance specifications. Ensure quality in engineering systems, bringing improvements where needed.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide support to resolve site issues and troubleshoot static equipment engineering problems.
  • Documentation: Create and update documentation related to product design, performance, and technical reports.
  • Cost Estimation and Coordination: Lead cost estimation activities for equipment, coordinate interface engineering, and attend project review meetings internally and externally.

Desired Technical Competencies

Software/Tools:

  • Strong working experience in SolidWorks, PV Elite, CodeCalc, Compress, Nozzle-Pro & Auto Cad.
  • Knowledge on Ansys, CAESAR II, Codecal/Code ware and other software programs for pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping (added advantage)

Engineering Codes and Standards:

  • ASME, API, ANSI, ISO, DIN, BS, NACE, TEMA, IBR, PED, PD 5500, AD2000 & EN13445.
  • Conversant with Oil & Gas-related international codes and standards.
  • Knowledgeable in P&IDs, piping plans, isometric piping drawings, 3D modelling & layout review.
  • Considerable knowledge in various company standards like EIL, Toyo, LTHE/ LTC, PIP, ADMA-OPCO, EIL, Aramco, UOP, Technip, Chevron, ADNOC, KIPIC, etc.
  • Exposure in an environment having ERP LN/ PLM/ SAP (different modules) or other such equivalent program.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B. E / B. Tech (Mechanical – preferred). MBA or an advanced degree would be an added advantage.
  • 15+ years of experience in Engineering & Design (Proposal and Detail Engineering) for various offshore & onshore projects (Oil & Gas, refineries, fertilizers, chemicals and power)
  • Significant experience in the design and troubleshooting of static equipment such as heat exchangers, pressure vessels, towers, reactors, columns, fired and unfired boilers, waste heat recovery boilers (WHRBs), flare systems, filters, strainers and piping.
  • Experience in Stationary equipment repairs including identifying the problems, materials & methods, and scope of work preparation.
  • Knowledge of welding & material of construction.
