Job Purpose
- The executive is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of material procurement, inventory management, storage, and distribution within a company. This role ensures that materials are sourced efficiently, stored safely, and distributed timely to support the operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement material management strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives.
- Conduct market analysis to forecast material requirements and trends.
- Oversee the procurement of raw materials, packaging materials, and other necessary supplies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best pricing, quality, and delivery.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers.
- Develop and implement inventory management systems to track material usage and ensure optimal inventory levels.
- Monitor stock levels, conduct regular audits, and implement measures to minimize wastage and obsolescence.
- Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring materials are stored safely and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement efficient storage systems and procedures to optimize space and handling.
- Manage logistics operations to ensure timely and cost-effective distribution of materials.
- Coordinate with production and operations teams to ensure materials are available as needed.
- Ensure all material handling, storage, and distribution processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Implement and maintain safety protocols to prevent accidents and incidents.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the material management team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Develop and manage the material management budget.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in material management.
- Implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in material handling and inventory management.
- Prepare and present regular reports on material management performance, including key metrics such as inventory turnover, cost savings, and supplier performance.

Qualification & Experience
- BE / BSc Tech in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry Graduate with post-graduation in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in material management, preferably in the chemical industry.
- Experience of International buying from China, Europe, Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia is highly desired
- Proven experience in procurement & inventory management with good understanding of warehouse management & logistics is preferred
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to material handling and storage.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles and best practices.

- Proficiency in material management software and ERP systems.
