Job Purpose:
- The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic growth, and organizational success. This includes overseeing day-to-day operations, implementing best practices, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement and ensuring achievement of the company’s long-term objectives and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement operational strategies to meet production targets, ensure quality standards, and maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate with senior management to align operations with organizational goals and market demands
Production Management:
- Oversee daily manufacturing activities, ensuring timely and efficient production.
- Monitor production schedules, resource allocation, and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime. Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Operational Excellence and Continuous improvement:
- Establish a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement within the manufacturing organization.
- Implement Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and reduce waste.
Maintenance Planning and Execution:
- Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team
- Overseeing all maintenance operations at the Plant, ensuring the efficient operation of equipment, machinery, and facilities
- Responsible for managing resources, maintaining compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance department
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all operations.
- Promote a culture of safety by implementing and monitoring HSE programs and conducting regular audits
Supply Chain and Inventory:
- Manage procurement, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished products. Optimize supply chain operations to reduce costs and improve delivery timelines.
- Maintain inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing waste
Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and other external partners to ensure smooth operations.
- Work closely with sales and marketing teams to align production with market demands.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks to manufacturing operations and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions and ensure business continuity.
Key Skills & Attributes:
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, and best practices, particularly within the Fertilizer and Chemical industry.
- Leadership Skill: Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive change, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making, with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to optimize manufacturing performance.
- Strategic Vision: Strategic mindset with the ability to develop and execute long-term manufacturing strategies aligned with broader business objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- B. Tech in Chemical Engineering, Operations management from a reputed university. Post Graduate degree (e.g. MBA/ MS) is preferred.
- Experience in Phosphatic Fertilizers is mandatory
- 20 – 22 years of extensive experience in manufacturing operations, with progressively responsible roles in production management, process improvement, and strategic planning. Previous leadership experience is essential.
